Our Street

We live in the 6000 block of 27th Avenue Northeast in the Bryant neighborhood of Seattle.  Most of the houses on our block were built in the 1920s.  A few were here a bit earlier, and a few houses were built later, generally replacing houses which were torn down.

What I have done

I have searched through the 1930 and 1940 US Federal census images to find who was living in our homes when those censuses were taken.  I have also searched in the Seattle Times archives for articles and advertisements about our homes using the addresses of the homes as well as the names of the people who were living in them.  I have created a collection of those images for you to view

Who and Why?

My name is Mary Kircher Roddy.  I created this website because I'm a history geek, fascinated by stories.  I'm interested in researching my own roots, and also the stories of people who interacted with my family.  And recently I've started to investigate the stories of the people who lived where I now live.
